3rd Edition Collection in collaboration with Spinnova at Fashion in Helsinki

29 May, 2024
Over the past few months, I've been fully engaged in crafting a new collection in collaboration with Spinnova, showcasing modular outfits from fabrics made with SPINNOVA® fibre. This marks the third occasion where I have joined forces to create looks utilising wood-based fibre produced with innovative technology. Working with Spinnova has been an exciting journey, and I am thrilled to continue exploring the possibilities that this partnership offers.

The collection was unveiled in May 2024 at Fashion in Helsinki show, an event dedicated to showcasing the emerging talents of the Finnish fashion industry.

For centuries, the corset was worn due to its positive associations with status and beauty, while also serving as a symbol of oppression and constraint. This collection acknowledges the historical significance of the corset while simultaneously challenging its restrictive nature through a modular, transformable design philosophy. By reimagining the corset's traditional elements, the collection seeks to liberate the wearer from its historical constraints.

The new collection mixes SPINNOVA® fibres with lighter cotton poplin and silk organza to create voluminous, layered silhouettes in a fresh and vibrant color palette. These garments incorporate classic corset elements such as boning and lacing, which are reinterpreted to enhance both functionality and aesthetic appeal. New techniques in shaping the modular structure have also been introduced, allowing for the creation of trousers within the collection for the first time.

Central to the collection is the innovative modular structure, which enables garments to be taken apart and rebuilt into different silhouettes. In this collection, as with previous ones, modules from earlier pieces have been reassembled to tell a new story, creating a seamless blend of past and present designs. Moreover, the design concept follows a one-size-fits-all principle, empowering the wearer to dictate how the garment adapts to their changing body and evolving style preferences—thus reshaping the relationship between the garment and the wearer.

Each piece, each module, no longer restrictive and static, becomes a dynamic component of the wardrobe, capable capable of evolving and transforming.

Peace and Love,
